ARACELY and Other Stories edition by Paul Le Mat Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
I just had to purchase Aracely after reading a sneak preview. I was totally hooked! And the story (which is in two parts, bookending the other stories) did not disappoint. With a swift and sure hand, LeMat conveys the gritty, seedy side of LA via his narrator's sly, self-deprecating wit. The developing relationship between the narrator and Aracely as well as the mystery that gradually unfolds kept me engrossed as the tension steadily increased, leading to an explosive ending. The other short stories in this collection are gems as well. If you desire a thoroughly involving yet quick and easy read, you need to make Aracely yours.

ARACELY and Other Stories edition by Paul Le Mat Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I was at first taken in by my great love and respect for Mr. LeMat and his considerable acting talent, which in my opinion has been overlooked in Hollywood. I decided I'd give his writing skills a shot, as one so talented must have chops in more than one discipline.
I was not disappointed. "Aracely and other Stories" is an excellent read. This collection of short stories contain two that are movie worthy.
! Are you listening?
This collection is well thought out, with all the elements of a great writer, LeMat delivers. I'd be doing you as a reader a great disservice by revealing the plots and characters, but, it should be noted
Aracely and other Stories, is a winner. You will not be disappointed. Paul LeMat can deliver.
This author must be a fan of the Masters -- Erle, Agatha et al. Such intrigue is reflected in the Paul Le Mat mystery, "Aracely." A #1.
I really enjoyed reading "Aracely"...the main story in Paul Le Mat's book of short stories, "ARACELY and Other Stories". The lead male character (Ed), reminded me of Paul's character in the film, "Aloha Bobby & Rose". Ed is a good guy...but difficult situations develop very quickly, which are beyond his control. It's always interesting to see how he handles them. By the way, if you haven't seen Paul Le Mat's film, "Aloha Bobby and Rose", I highly recommend that movie too! It's one of my favorites, of all of the films that Paul has acted in. Paul Le Mat plays the romantic lead in "Aloha Bobby & Rose" and is a `natural' for the part...just as he was in "American Graffiti", when he played the role of John Milner, who drove the yellow deuce coupe and rode around all night 'babysitting' a young McKenzie Phillips, before the big race at the end.
As a reader, I wondered how Ed was going to get out of his sticky, sometimes scary, always sexy predicaments. The part where he visits a masseuse was very entertaining. Does he get a 'happy ending'? You'll have to buy the book to find out. Ed seems to possess the 'cool factor'...just as Paul Le Mat did, when he played John Milner, in "American Graffiti". If you are ever fortunate enough to meet Paul Le Mat in person, at a car show, somewhere around the world, you'll see that he IS a 'cool guy'...but very genuine...one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
Back to the book... Aracely is the name of the female character in the first story, which is a sexy murder-mystery. Ed is a part time law student. Ed and Aracely (one of his fellow classmates), find themselves immersed in unforeseen circumstances, not long after their second 'chance' meeting. They dig into things and investigate places they shouldn't...in order to attempt to solve the case on their own. Their seemingly reckless actions lead them into totally unexpected and potentially dangerous situations, which make for a great story!
When I was finished reading "Aracely", I wished for more...and was happily surprised. Later in the book, the story continued! There are several other great stories in the book, with a diverse range of topics...almost always involving a relationship with a member of the opposite sex...which is fun to read about...especially from Paul's perspective.
One can't help but be moved...by the faith in God which Paul Le Mat displays in his writing. Some of his stories have stayed with me, long after reading them...longer than most short stories do. The subject matter is always so heartfelt...the way he describes his feelings. I find myself thinking about what he's said...and thinking that we (his readers) are probably getting a glimpse of the 'real Paul'...the man behind the characters which he plays with such natural ability, when acting in films.
Once again, I'm impressed with the range of Paul's writing, his honesty, and his ability to get in touch with and express his many feelings. He is much more of a deep thinker than most of his "American Graffiti" fans know, I would suspect. His sense of humor shows through also.
I highly recommend this book, and his other recent offering, "Hasten Down the Wind". Hope that you enjoy them both, as much as I have! Looking forward to Paul's next book!
